Alumnus Clarence Page to be presented Carr Van Anda Award for excellence in journalism Sept. 16 Ohio University 1969 alumnus, journalist, author and Pulitzer Prize winner Clarence Page will be presented the Carr Van Anda Award for excellence in journalism by the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in Schoonover Center 145. Guy Riefler to discuss turning pollution into paint at Sept. 18 Science Café Guy Riefler, Professor of Civil Engineering, will present, “Cleaning up Pollution by Turning It into Paint,” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Baker Center Front Room. He will lead a discussion about the cause and scope of the problem, demonstrate the magic of the chemistry involved in treating the water, display the amazing art produced from these new pigments, and explain the economics of their proposed treatment system. Alumnus William Messenger to deliver Constitution Day Lecture on Sept. 16 as part of George Washington Forum Ohio University alumnus William Messenger will give a Constitution Day Lecture titled, “Can Free Speech be Compelled? The First Amendment and Speech Rights,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 in Galbreath Chapel. Messenger is a staff attorney at the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. OHIO Innovation Center receives $1.15 million federal grant for facility upgrades The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded a $1.15 million grant to the Ohio University Innovation Center to support facility improvements at the internationally renowned business incubator. OHIO recognized as one of the nation’s Most Innovative, Best Value Colleges by U.S. News Ohio University is considered one of the Most Innovative Schools and Best Value Schools in the latest rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. First Russ Prize lecture to examine future of cardiovascular technology Julio Palmaz will present, “Cardiovascular Interventional Technology: Near and Distant Future,” on Monday Sept. 9 as part of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology Stocker Lecture Series. The NAE and Ohio University awarded Palmaz and four others with the 2019 Russ Prize for innovations in coronary angioplasty, enabling minimally invasive treatment of heart disease. The talk will be broadcast via live stream. President Nellis to deliver opening remarks for 9/11 Interfaith Peace Walk United Campus Ministry will hold the ninth annual 9/11 Interfaith Peace Walk on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
